  1. ATTUNE INWARD

Make the time and space to listen to yourself deeply, beneath the level of usual thoughts and emotions.  You don’t have to act on it for now – just listen.

  1. CHOOSE ONE NEXT STEP AT A TIME – OR NOT

It’s fine to keep your aspirations general.  If you want to become more specific, do it one step at a time by picking one particular expression of what matters most to you – one you would like to experiment with right now – and then choose one specific action of body, speech or mind that would be aligned with it.

  1. INCLUDE EVERYTHING ON THE PATH

When moving toward a new expression, activity or behavior, include everything as part of the experiment.  Obstacles, supports, strengths, weaknesses, successes, failures are all part of the process.   Redefine effort:   minimize struggle with will power; nourish energy, inspiration, “begin again”.

 

  1. CULTIVATE POSITIVE REMINDERS OR RITUAL

Do and say something to connect with what matters most to you on a regular (daily) basis, even just for a few seconds, such lighting a candle.
